Just put these numbers into a 'define key' and dyou will be able to dump your own patches to your computer. Here they are: F0 42 21 01 10 F7 FE. Remember that you must always end a 'define key' with an FE, which I have done. If your new to MIDI sysex, just look at your synth's implementation chart- GENERALLY all you need are the #'s for the manufacturer, I.D. and dump request. Sometimes those numbers are in decimal or binary form and you have to convert them to hex to use with Miditerm. Please post here if you figure out how to find the 'define key' #'s of your own brand of synth, so that others may share. Also, remember that the above #'s will not work on older Poly800's that were not made with sysex dump capabilities; an upgrade is available from your dealer for around $40. These numbers will also not work with the new Poly MKII, but I will have that posted here soon. ------------ Category 6, Topic 9 Message 3 Wed Sep 16, 1987 JRAPPOLD [JR] at 21:19 EDT Following is a "define key" for the Casio CZ-1. This information was given to me by DaveD4 of QLink. 1. In Miditerm3.9, define on of ththe number keys as "FE". 2. Turn off write protect on CZ-1. 3. Press the MIDI switch (not MIDI on/off, which must be on) on the CZ-1, then page up to "system exclusive" and set "tone data=ENA". Press the MIDI/Cartridge key and page up to "MIDI Save or Load". 5. Press the save key. You will get a question "Save MIDI Data (Y/N). Wait until step 7 to answer. 6. Press the key you designated as FE in Miditerm. 7. On the cz-1, press the Yes key to answer "Save MIDI Data". As data transmits the CZ-1 will display "Save MIDI Data Run!". 8. When transmission is complete, the display will read "Save MIDI d 4>Data OK!". The The status line on Miditerm will show that the buffer has been loaded. It is full of patch data, including opration memory. This is identical to saving on a RA-6 cartridge. Name the file and save buffer to disk. A disk will hold about 7 sets of data, a big savings over $60-70 for a cartridge. To load data back into the CZ-1, load the file you saved into MIDIterm's buffer, then follow these instructions: 1. turn CZ-1 protect switch off. 2. Press the MIDI key, page up and set "Tone Data=ENA". 3. Press the MIDI/Cartridge key, page up and press the Load key. 4. Press the spacebar on the computer to send the data.
