Twin Cities 128/64 is written by C-128 and C-64 users. Doctors and lawyers specialize in their fields because doing so makes them experts, we specialize in Commodore computers! INFO magazine once wrote "If you are serious about using or programming your C-128, you need this publication." and in the July 1990 issue of INFO they added Twin Cities 128 "has always been the best source of C-128 information"! This still holds true today, except we now support the C-64 too! TC-128 was the first to cover such important C-128 developments such as: the release and obtaining of the C-128 upgrade ROMs, the 1581 disk drive, using and expanding VDC RAM for spectacular graphics on the 80 column screen, usage of Basic 8, the debut of "Mega- HiRes" graphics that allow onscreen bitmapped graphics beyond that of even the Amiga!. Look at some recent articles such as 256K and 512K memory expansions for the C-128, home made 4 bit sound digitizers, static programmable EPROMS, sound and graphics for CP/M, C-64 digital sound players for IBM PC sound files, C-128 ".raw" players, CMD hardware utilities, and much more. Since January 1986, TC-128/64's first issue, the magazine has been the best place to get those original articles, original programs, and original reviews that let you utilize your C-128 or C-64 to its fullest and realize the maximum return on your computing dollar. To further that computing dollar, starting with issue #35, we are going to a brand new format, lower subscription rates, and every new subscription will now include a disk as well! About the disk: The first side, the commercial side, has files that are unique to TC-128/64, copyrighted by Parsec, Inc. and can not be copied and or given away. Treat these files the same way as you do commercial software, because they are. The first side of the disk contains all the type in programs examples, any original programs produced for that issue, on disk advertising from Parsec and other companies, and more. This side is the "commercial" software side. The second side will contain programs we have reviewed or spotlighted, such as shareware or public domain files. The files on this second side are free to pass around, to upload to a BBS, or to put into a User Group's Disk of the Month. All GEOS programs on either side, will require Convert 2.5 to convert back to GEOS. If you need the conversion program, it is available on our PD disk, "GEOU01". All CP/M programs need to be transfered to a CP/M formatted disk. In some cases they are compressed and need to be uncompressed. We suggest nulu152.com. If you do not have the programs to transfer files over to CP/M disks or nulu152.com, then order our PD disk "CP/M 01". It contains all the tools to get you going and the documentation on how to use the programs are provided on the disk. All our disks will be compacted on either one or both sides and made into self dissolving files to maximize disk space. These are called SFX files, compressed with CS-DOS from Parsec. Dissolving .SFX files is easy. Just load each file, on either the C-64 or C-128, insert a blank disk, hit the space bar key, and the files will be dissolved onto your disk and to any disk drive number you want. By using these files, we can squeeze between 30-60% more files for you onto the disk.. These files work with all disk drives, including CMD devices and all types of partitions. The magazine is published 2-3 times a year. Subscription with the disk for issues 33-38 (six issues) = $24.00 US, Canada, Mexico, & PR Subscription with the disk for issues 33-38 (six issues) = $36.00 US All others Available single issues #33-#36, $6.00 each plus S&H. More like 1-2 times a year. BTW when will we see issue #37? ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 3 Thu Apr 06, 1995 T.GOSSER1 [PowerUserMag] (Forwarded) Issue #38? Wheres tc128/64 #37? Has this been mailed out already or what? ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 4 Sat Apr 08, 1995 C128.JBEE at 10:15 EDT Tom, That is an inaccurate statement and not true. Loren sent out press releases in the early part of 1991 and finally sent me the labels in Sept 91. So, I mailed issue #29 and then followed it by issue #30 in either late 91 or early 92. I can not remember at the moment. But, I usually posted the mailing dates here if you wanted to check back on the earlier BB messages. I have them myself but do not have the inclination or time to waste checking it. Issue #31 Feb 92 Issue #32 July 92 Issue #33 Jan 93 Issue #34 Aug 93 Issue #35 around Jan 94 Issue #36 around Apr 94 To me, that is two to three issues a year, is it not? I just changed the advertising to reflect not what I wished I could do, but to what I have done in the past and what I am probably going to do in the future. Hope that does not upset you or anyone else. ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 5 Sat Apr 08, 1995 C128.JBEE at 10:16 EDT I will most likely start mailing issue #37 at the end of April. Once I start mailing the 1st class subscriptions, I will post it here. ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 6 Sat Apr 08, 1995 T.GOSSER1 [PowerUserMag] at 10:42 EDT No, actually it looks like 2 issues a year. Nothing more nothing less. A far cry from a monthly issue and not quite 3 is it? No I am not upset. Neither is anyone else that I know of. If we were I suspect some of us would be requesting refunds on our remaining subs. ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 7 Sun Apr 09, 1995 C128.JBEE at 02:32 EDT Tom, That sounds about right all around. I had thought about renaming it from Twin Cities 128/64 to Twin Covers (per year) 128/64. But, then I figured if I published less than two issues per year, or more then three, but less than ten, then I would have to change the initals from "TC"-128/64. I like them too much to do that. So, I figure leaving it as two to three issues a year is best :D The reward for the faithful subscribers will be really cool software that I have not released yet, like Kent Smotherman's Basic 9.4 and GEOS games because they will be on the commercial side of TC-128/64. I posted in this category last year about being "just" ready to release them but decided to use them to add a lot of extra value to the magazine for subscribers. Once I have the issues out (37/38) I will be releasing the prgs as commercial software. This was done to prevent a whole bunch of subscribers from ordering something I was going to give to them for free. So, do not order either the Basic 9.4 or GEOS GAMES disk because you will receive them anyway. Anyone that has ordered the software already will have their subscription extended another issue. "The Final Horizon" customers (I took over the magazine, it was dead) are having their TC-128/64s bulk mailed this month along with discount coupons from our new catalog. Once that is done and the magazine authors are paid I will mail #37. Jimbob;] ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 10 Sat Apr 15, 1995 C128.JBEE at 15:32 EDT I compile back issues into "stuff" books. The first one is online in the REBOCARDO database. I have waited to make more of them available until I could lower the price, which we have done. They are now $12. The price drop is because the new DTP software I am using has dropped the page count from 120 pages to 85 pages using the same content. I made the disk sides of #32 available in lib#10 but after 15 downloads and no response to it besides the downloads, I have nuked it. I have bought the republishing rights to other magazines and when I get the time I will release the articles into the REBOCARDO database and other books. ------------ Category 11, Topic 2 Message 11 Thu Apr 20, 1995 J.THOMPSO122 [JIMBOB51] at 20:37 EDT > > I compile back issues into "stuff" books. I believe CMD is just a dealer and not a distributor like RIO was. When I asked a few years ago, the Germany OEM absolutely refused to sell the cartridge separately for any reason. If they corrected the problem with the Handyscanner using the new four inch scanner, which caused me to stop selling the product, and they did it in hardware, then the new cartridge most likely will not work with the smaller mouse type scanner you have. The good news is, if memory serves me correctly, is that the PC board is just a simple user port board/connector that could be sourced from Jason/Renheim (sp)? if they are still in business. If so, then you could just move the components over to a new board. On opening one, my first impression was it is a simple design using normal hardware that cost about $10-$15 so even making a board or cloning it is not difficult. I never mentioned that before because I did not want to encourage people to pirate the product. Most of the value added to the scanner is the (excellent) drawing software itself. So, I bet a C-1660 would make a fine connector/kludge. If the problem is from the printed circuit board being flexed and a trace being broken, finding and repairing that with a meter is pretty easy. If, you have a meter and are willing to learn and experiment a bit that is. I have not heard of the SX-64 causing any problems, but you never know. If it is a component that is going bad instead of a broken solder joint or connector, fixing it will be much more difficult unless you are a hardware whiz, which I am not. My solution would be to replace the few components one by one until it worked correctly starting with the cheapest ones attached directly (buffering, step-down, etc.) to the powered lines. I think the cartridge only has one IC (74/78 series). Earl Harvey is pretty good at this type of thing and saved me many sleepless nights on a repair job to a C-128D PC board (customer fried it with "lightening" and I had to wirewrap the board and replace all the parts) when I incorrectly wirewrapped a 6526 IC leg, so I know he is good. In the "what do you have to lose" department, if you get nowhere trying to get it replaced at a reasonable price, send it to me and I will attempt repairs for cost (just pay for whatever hardware I buy and S&H) on a rainy day. ------------ Category 11, Topic 4 Message 4 Tue May 14, 1996 C128.JBEE at 19:25 EDT One day I shall come back Yes, I shall come back Until then no regrets, no tears, no anxities, Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me I was not mistaken in mine. ------------ Category 11, Topic 4 Message 5 Tue May 14, 1996 C128.JBEE at 19:26 EDT Dr.Who on FOX at 8:00 tonight, start those tape players ;-> ------------ ************ Topic 5 Sat May 06, 1995 C128.JBEE at 20:12 EDT Sub: Authorized Dealers Authorized Dealers 2 message(s) total. ************ ------------ Category 11, Topic 5 Message 1 Sat May 06, 1995 C128.JBEE at 20:12 EDT Parsec's Authorized Dealers: Earl Harvey 1409 Mill St Laramie WY 82070 307-745-7077 -> AUTHORIZED COMMODORE DEALER AND REPAIR CENTER Earl Harvey stocks all of Parsec's products except the public domain disks and public domain collections (game paks etc.) Parsec's Authorized (Overseas) Dealers: MICHAEL RENZ PERFORMANCE PERIPHERALS 53332 BORNHEIM HOLZWEG 12 GERMANY STEFAN SANDINGE SANDINGE'S IMPORT & DATA NORBERGSVAGEN 8B S-302 30 HALMSTAD SWEDEN ------------ Category 11, Topic 5 Message 2 Sat Mar 09, 1996 C128.JBEE at 19:39 EST Earl Harvey is no longer a Parsec dealer, but he is still a good guy :-D ------------ ************ Topic 6 Sat May 06, 1995 C128.JBEE at 20:13 EDT Sub: The GEnie File Directory The GEnie File Directory 2 message(s) total. ************ ------------ Category 11, Topic 6 Message 1 Sat May 06, 1995 C128.JBEE at 20:14 EDT The GEnie File Directory for the Commodore 64/128 RoundTable It's here - The GEnie File Directory for the Commodore 64/128 RoundTable. Both the C-64 and C-128 contain a sound chip called the 'SID' chip. This chip can produce amazing three voice sound (6 voices with an additional SID chip or stereo SID cartridge from CMD). With this book and disk collection you will never find yourself asking 'what good is hardware without software' because this is all you will ever need to make the SID chip in your Commodore sing & shine. Entering music into the SID music editor is easy, as easy as pointing and clicking with your joystick where you want the notes to go! Though a knowledge of music and how to read sheet music is helpful, it is not needed to use the book. The SID editor contains many powerful keyboard commands you can use in conjunction with the point & click ease of the user interface. The help screen commands are printed out in the back of the book for easy reference while using the SID editor. With the book comes the improved SID editors for the C-64 /128 and the stereo SID editor. Included on the disk are SID machine language modules that will enable you to combine your SID music and words with your own Basic C-64 or Basic C-128 programs. Combined with graphics, you will be well on your way to your own multimedia presentations using your C-64 or C-128. Now you understand why this book and the file format it produces, is the world wide standard for SID music, because it is was and IS simply the best. It was written to display lottery numbers for a video store, or any store, and to display large letters on the 40 column screen while using the 80 column screen for text input. This allows an uninterrupted display using the 40 column output which the customer can view on either a (large screen) TV or on a 40 column monitor even while you are inputting data using the 80 column monitor. The 80 column monitor can be monochrome or color. This program features: Automatic rotating display between any of the choices enabled. Display of the time (entering the time for the program is mandatory to prevent the program from displaying a blank screen to viewers). The display of a 4 digit lottery number from the night before. The display of a 4 digit lottery number from tonight. The display of a 5 digit lottery number. The display of a 6 digit lottery number. The display of a 7 digit lottery number. You can change the default colors (B&W is the default) using the menu or by changing the BASIC program values. You can input "hot" messages entering up to a 10 character by 5 line message. You can display two default screens embedded within the program. You can also change the default 3 letter logo to one of your own by modifying the BASIC program. All letters must be entered in lower case, which is the default. The text shown on the 40 column screen is output in CAPITAL letters for maximum effect. The input/output of data/letters supports the letters A-Z, the minus sign, the colon, and the period for output on the 40 column screen. While the program is running hold down any of the menu keys to stop the program, while it still displays a picture on the 40 column screen, to change any of the selections, including the time. The program will respond within a few seconds once it has finished updating the 40 column screen. It features a text auto centering routine in BASIC so lines with only a few characters are displayed centered. This prevents the screen from looking lop sided. The characters are in a 32x40 matrix so the letters are clearly visible many feet away using an inexpensive 19 inch TV. The "hot keyed" special screen supports a 10 character by 5 line display for custom text display rotated among the enabled default screens, this feature was designed for the "special" of the day announcements or late breaking news. What is needed for this program: C-128 D (flat or D model), A C-1541 disk drive (will run from any type of drive and device #), A 40 and 80 column display which can be a 40/80 column monitor such as the 1902 series. For displaying in a store we recommend using a TV for the 40 column output and an inexpensive monochrome 80 column monitor. To modify this program you need an intermediate knowledge of BASIC programming, at the most. We structured the program with many GOSUBs and included a lot of REM statements to make the program easier to follow. The unique features: Uses both the 40 and 80 column displays at the same time and it uses the C-128's powerful BASIC 7.0 graphic commands (GSHAPE etc. ), it is written in BASIC 7.0 so you can easily modify it, compile it, or add the SID routines published in the SIDPLAYER book by COMPUTE, which Parsec distributes. Display Alot uses standard Doodle bit maps so changing font sets is easy. If you need programming and technical support (you should not, it is so easy to use this ad is the manual!) it is provided on GEnie in the Commodore RoundTable (M625;1) in Category #11. For any type of retail store, this program is much more cost effective then buying a PC scan converter (VGA->NSTC $300) and then tying up an expensive PC. It is also much cheaper than an LCD display unit ($350 and up for a 2x27 inch display unit) and much more flexible . A typical used C-128 system (C-128D $100, 1581 $50, monochrome monitor $50) can be bought for $200 or less. The cost of this program is only $9.95 plus S&H and it comes on a 1541 disk. That means copyrighted but freely distributed on BBSs (we still reserve all rights including licensing rights). This release includes the source code for the program and modules, that means upload and download protocols too! Over 3,000 (compressed/ compacted) CBM disk blocks. Just load and run each compressed .SFX disk file onto a blank disk. If you own a mass storage device, such as like a CMD HD, you can load and run all the files to one disk partition. Modify and add modules to your heart's delight. The documentation is included on the disks. Bellterm C-64 supports almost every modem made for the C-64 including the C-1660, C-1670, and Volks 6420/70/80, plus the popular Hayes models. Works with RS232 and Swiftlink interfaces. Tech support is provided on GEnie, in Category #8, on page 625, in the Commodore 64/128 RoundTable area run by Parsec. Bellterm can only be sold or distributed on disk by Parsec and Parsec authorized dealers. We needed some specific GEOS tools for our publishing needs (and yours) and they did not exist, so we had them created. This utility disk contains GEOS programs and fonts developed by Parsec for TC-128/64 readers that spans issues #32-#36. Below is a short description of each file on the GEOS formatted diskette. geopager 128 This program allows you to compile a list of geoPaint pictures you want to print, from multiple drives, and prints them as you would a book. geoPager allows you to make multiple copies of individual geoPaint pictures or multiple copies of a group of geoPaint pictures. It works swell and fast with a laser printer too! Best of all you can save the list to disk for future use so you do not have to repick your selections. Just insert the disks with the pictures and the list you want to print from and geoPager will do the rest while you go for a cup of coffee. Works only in 80 columns. geopager 64: Same features as geoPager 128, only for the C-64. fontpaint 64-128 Do you have a bunch of GEOS fonts on a bunch of disks and you just hate wasting a bunch of time finding the font you need for a particular document or job? Then you just use geoPager to print out the picture and presto! Your own professional looking booklet of your GEOS fonts. It does not get any better than this! gp.doc.gw, gp.changes1.3, geopager notes, fontpaint notes: Amendments to the original TC-128/64 articles detailing various improvements and features added to the programs after they were published in the magazines. mega zingies & zingies A cool and fun "ding bat" type font with pictures and symbols for inclusion into your own documents. I run mine from a RamLink using native and 1581 emulation partitions, under gateWay and DualTop. I select the pic, and LaceII+ does access the drive, and right after completely freezes. In the next directory down, Ipaintpics, I do the same thing and it works. Thanks, James ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 10 Wed Jan 10, 1996 C128.JBEE at 11:52 EST > J.FOWLER Yes, it works fine with the gateWay drivers. Here is how mine is set up. I boot gateWay first, make sure my drivers are in the order I want the drives to appear. Then the DualTop autoexec runs Dualtop last. Then I just access the drives like any other disk drive. Little things: The native mode paritions do not have a driver name (identifier) attached to them on the DualTop. Though everything works fine. Does Lace II work okay when it is in the native partition along with the BASIC 8 pictures? ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 12 Sun Jan 14, 1996 L.SCHONDER [C128.LOU] at 00:04 EST I crashed trying to view a Basic 8 picture, too. Running gateWay 128, Lace II was in a RL1581 partition, and the graphic was in a HD1581 partition. I only tried it once. ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 13 Mon Jan 15, 1996 W.HOWLAND at 23:15 EST I've tried every combo I could with the Lace and the pics. My setup is: a:RL 1581 b:Swan 1571 c:FD-4000 (3.2 MB disk) All three contain the same BASIC 8 pictures. I boot GEOS and gateWay from a:. Then run Lace II from gateWay and view the pictures on a:/b: Then run DualTop, then run Lace II, then view the BASIC 8 pictures on all three drives. b: and c: contain non-GEOS disks, I do not think that matters but I am going to give it a shot with GEOS formatted disks tonight. For kicks I tried swapping B/C around and trying Lace II again and had no problems. Though remember you have to click on the BASIC 8 button to view BASIC 8 pictures. I also have color correction "on" but that should not make a difference in anything. ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 15 Thu Jan 25, 1996 C128.JBEE at 23:47 EST The factor may be the hard drive or a DOS difference because using a RamLink with native partitions and 1581 partitions, running either gateWay or DualTop, accessing B8 pictures on all three drives, in or out of the partitions works fine for me. I tried viewing pictures within each partition, then looking at pictures, while in the partition, inside the other various partitions. The only thing I have not tried is the border cross because you need a plain jane (correct?) GEOS to do that and I do not have one set up that will work on my systems. RL 1581 RL native 1571 FD 1581 FD native I guess wierd covers it. I am sending Lou the version I am using to see if it changes anything for him. ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 16 Fri Jan 26, 1996 L.SCHONDER [C128.LOU] at 18:12 EST Thanks, JBEE. I'll keep my eyes peeled. (You should have a package by now...) ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 17 Fri Jan 26, 1996 M.RANDALL2 [Maurice] at 19:04 EST JBEE, The bulk of BorderCross is actually built into the native drivers and from within gateWay, BorderCross mainly just moves a file from the main directory to the border (as we know it from the DeskTop). So, as long as a root directory has been made a GEOS disk, any files residing on the border will also be visible and usable from any subdirectory that has also been made a GEOS disk. This is all automatic from the driver itself. For that reason, this feature also works from geoSHELL and should also work from DualTop, in addition to gateWay. With geoSHELL, use the 'border' command that is available for download here on GEnie. -Maurice ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 18 Sun Mar 17, 1996 L.SHEWFELT [Lorne] at 16:09 EST I have a question about Dual Top. Is there any way that version 3.0 can exit directly to gateWay instead of Desk Top, as at least one earlier version did? I like to use Dual Top as a sort of file mangaer, but I prefer gateWay as my primary Desk Top replacement. Thanks for any help you can offer! ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 19 Wed Mar 20, 1996 C128.JBEE at 01:46 EST Using the latest version of DualTop, I run gateWay by just clicking on the gateWay file from the DualTop. I do not see why an earlier version would not work the same way, but, I have no information (a bug/revision list) or any idea on how the earlier versions worked. So, I will defer on a specific solution/answer, except to say the current version works fine, to someone else that might have more information. ------------ Category 11, Topic 16 Message 20 Sat Mar 23, 1996 J.ROBBINS16 [JBUS] at 04:54 EST Was a matter of convience for Paul. The earlier versions (V1.0 thru V2.8 Dualtop) had it in the menu as a matter of choice. Sept 1992 Parsec, Inc bought the complete rights to CS-DOS & ARC 128 and ARC 64. ARC 64 has now been re-released by Parsec and is available for immediate ordering. To get going with ARC 64's quick and flexible command line interface is easy. Just load and run each compressed file that contains ARC 64 onto a blank disk. Save over 30% of your disk space and up to 70% on graphic and text files! Find out why ARC 64 is the most widely used compression program and enhanced command wedge today for the Commodore 64/128 today. Best of all it is true shareware. Not 'crippled', not 'dongle' protected, and not 'copy' protected. The shareware fee is just $20 to register the program. The ARC 64 shareware disk is just $1. If you do not like ARC 64 and do not use it, you do not pay us. The risk is all ours, so what are you waiting for? Compress your files NOW. With the next release you will also receive an assembly language compiler that works with CS-DOS, it includes an upgrade path to a PC based 6502 cross compiler. I am updating the C source to both now and will release it to registered owners in Sept, maybe early Oct. I also have source code for a C compiler, both CS-DOS and PC based though I have not decided if it is worth the effort to polish it off and market it. ------------ Category 11, Topic 18 Message 6 Sun Aug 27, 1995 CINDY.S at 08:51 EDT I downloaded the ARC version from the liBrary here to un arc files and that works fine. I FINALY wrote a little program and wanted to arc it to upload. When I typed in the command line from the docs I ended up with a 1 BLK file one the drive that was Basicly a splat. Tryed a 1571 and a 1581 drive. Is there a trick. I'd send in the registration fee if I could get the arc part to work correctly? ------------ Category 11, Topic 18 Message 7 Tue Sep 05, 1995 C128.JBEE at 17:15 EDT Cindy.S, You should never receive a "splat" * file unless you shut off the computer. If the computer hangs try hitting the RUN/STOP key. That will properly close the file. ARC/ARC128 always closes the file properly if it can not proceed. If you ended up with a one block file, then most likely the parameters you sent ARC were incorrect and it stopped creating the archive. If you post the command you are sending the file then I can trouble shoot it for you. One word of caution, sometimes archiving files from a GEOS disk does not work properly and you have to move the converted (PRG) files to another disk to be properly archived. The command line should look like this for a single file: arc/a a:archive.arc a:filename or arc/a a:archive.arc a:*.* for doing a whole disk. ------------ Category 11, Topic 18 Message 8 Thu Sep 14, 1995 CINDY.S at 19:48 EDT Thanks, you are right it was not a * splat (poor choice of terms) it was the 1 Blk file like you mentioned. I always format my C64 disks with GEOS cause I am too lazy to type in commands. Perhaps that is my proBlem. Since the ARC prog is accepting the command and putting a file on the disk (trying to work) then closing without ARCing my file. I'll drag out the old drive manual and review the way to format a disk in the old way( what a hassle) I have gotten soft with GEOS point and click! ------------ Category 11, Topic 18 Message 9 Tue Jan 02, 1996 W.HOWLAND at 07:38 EST Been awhile since anyone posted here! The version of CS-DOS I currently DON'T use does not work on ANY CMD equipment whatsoever. (Or I'd use it.) However ARC64 does, and the ARC version I use is pre-Parsec. Thank you! I am now in blush-mode... :) W. Howland, As Cam has said, CS/DOS needs the REU. Therefore if an REU is in a RAMLink, RAMLink must be in DIRECT. There is a simple alternative to having to flip the DIRECT/NORMAL switch: It is to get CMD's plug-in-option that allows using SwiftLink while RAMLink is set to DIRECT. This is the way I would go today. However, prior to having this option CMD was nice enough to custom modify my RAMLink to allow SwiftLink to run while in DIRECT. This is pretty much what the plug-in-option does. I am pretty sure that the autoexec's Cam refers to are in the Library including the routines for automatically setting CS/DOS' time and date. The Commodore DOS is just different then some versions of JiffyDos. Considering the state of the Commodore DOS/Kernal itself, making improvements to that, which can crash some programs does not mean JiffyDos has bugs either. It is just something for which you have to program and make allowances. Also, the timing on some systems is just different enough to make it work on most systems and fail on a small percentage. Usually flat C-128s. I never had a problem with the RamLink/Hard drive set up until I added a FD-4000 to the mix. The result? Images which look their absolute best when printed using GEOS, especially on laser printers. The collection covers a wide range of subjects including people, flowers, plants, landscapes and scenes, insects, animals, pets, aircraft, and some construction equipment. This collection will be especially appealing to newsletter editors because this package allows you to reprint these images in your new sletters without the payment of royalties. So now you can start adding some real spice to your newsletters and GEOS documents with the assurance that the images you are using are not only of the highest quality but are also legal to use in print. Some additional benefits are that the over 6500 cbm blks worth of geoPaint graphics (12 disks) are printed out in a fourteen page reference manual, along with the name of each picture printed on the colorful disk labels so the package is even more enjoyable and easy to use. My wife is so upset she could not read the Boston Herald stories today about Brandon Denny. If it was within my money & means I would help all the families and people hurt by the bomb blast, but I can not. Though I know I can help at least one family. You may have seen the TV and newspaper stories about little three year old Brandon Denny at Presbyterian Hospital maimed and in a coma while his sister is recovering at another near by hospital. If any family needed help and prayers now, these people do, and I would like to help them. So from now until Monday May 8th, 1995 you can get 50% off any Parsec order providing: 1) The check or money order is made out to: "Jim and Claudia Denny" 2) It is under $50 + 3) You live in the US++ I will be looking for other donations and matching funds from people with which I do business, so feel free to send anything along that you can. If you send a card (or a toy) with your order it will be forwarded along with the checks to the family. My address is: Parsec, Inc. PO Box 111 Salem, MA 01970-0111 USA I thank you in advance for your kindness. JBEE +Please do not order bulk diskettes, I only have enough to last the month. ++No offense meant to our valued Canadian friends and customers. It is not practical because it costs $8-$14 to mail your order and it could cost them up to $35 to deposit your out of country check or mail order. ------------ Category 11, Topic 24 Message 2 Tue Aug 15, 1995 C128.JBEE at 00:52 EDT Parsec can now accept Mastercard, VISA, and checks on-line, through the mail, and over our 1-800 line. I will publish the 1-800 line in September once I am back from vacation. I had to decide between a 1-800 sales line five days a week, 9-5 EST, staffed by non-tech people that would know little more then how to fill out the order sheets. With a toll tech line available on a sometimes basis (if I was available to answer it). Or A 1-800 line available for BOTH sales AND support 9-5 EST on Saturdays staffed by me. In the end, I decided to go with the latter. Those with older 80s catalogs know we use to have a 1-800-parsec01 number (or something to that effect) that I dropped after $3000 phone bills. When you call please do not be insulted if I can't chat because I can't afford it ;) If you are having a problem, please have all the documentation on hand, such as your modem's manual so solving the problem is easier quicker. ------------ Category 11, Topic 24 Message 3 Tue Aug 15, 1995 C128.JBEE at 00:56 EDT Anyone that was waiting for those free CP/M disks and magazines, I finished all the orders and threw in extra CP/M freebies and SID disks. You should have them by the weekend. Hope you enjoy them and thank you. ------------ Category 11, Topic 24 Message 4 Wed Dec 06, 1995 R.ESTEL [Dick] at 21:31 EST Unless I am more confused than usual, CMD is now the dealer for the Handyscanner. I got mine from Parcec, but posted a question in a new category under Category 12, CMD. Any Handyscanner experts in this area are invited to help! ------------ Category 11, Topic 24 Message 5 Mon Mar 04, 1996 C128.JBEE at 14:39 EST I have six copies of our old GEOS Font guide left. I am going to ditch them by this weekend. If you want a copy it is $5.25 which covers the $4.25 plus $1 for the covers.
