Thinking about cleaning your equipment?  Here's some tips from experience...

I'd remove the case and scrub it down. DON'T use alcohol on the keys. It 
takes the letters right off them. Some commercial clears (oops) cleaners will 
also do it. The case isn't hard to remove. A couple of screws and that's it.

I always use straight ammonia on both my keyboards and monitor glass. Every 
six months or so, I pull the keys and clean the switches with  Freon and 
compressed air, but then I am finicky about my keyboard. (Not that my typing 
speed warrants it!)

Couple dozen screws?  This author has managed to strip the heads of several 
c64 or 1541 screws... guess that leaves me out of internal cleaning...  Oh, 
well, amonnia here I come!  Thanks, all! (was out for system repair...sigh)

DO NOT use ammonia on monitor glass-- many of the better monitors (including 
Commodore's color monitors) have a coating to reduce glare from sun, room 
lights, etc. Ammonia will remove this coating.

Damp cloth should work ok, or denatured alchohol.  Nothing drippy wet - dampl 
stuff won't get into the case is f you're careful

Carefulwith the cleaning fluid. I tried Monitor cleaner on the  
keyboard...and it took the letters off the keys! Good grief.
