We are just finishing Set-Up, and will give more details in the AM. ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 7 Thu Sep 21, 1989 C128-BILL [SYSOP] at 23:35 EDT What's new at the WOC?? I just happened to talk to one of our FlagShip Product Support people (CMD).... 1. Jiffy Dos Version 6 (just released) now supports a built-in dual drive file copier. List the directory, then tag selected files, or tag the whole directory for copying. Many more features including adjustable sector interleave.... more later... 2. HD Series Hard Drive for the 64 and 128!! Wow!! More on this one, later. 3. RAMLINK is a hardware interface (multi-purpose) for the cartridge port. For use with REU's, and other devices this plug-in addition lets you turn off the computer, without destroying the REU data. Turning it on the next day will find the REU still retaining the data that you stored in it from the previous day (or last week). With built in Jiffy commands, and a full blown Jiffy RAMDOS, plus allowing additional memory units to be attached this device looks very promising! Gee, all this from one booth!! I'll try to get a press release up in the Libraries as soon as possible. ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 8 Fri Sep 22, 1989 H.HERMAN1 at 04:19 EDT Bill, With RAMLINK can we now plug in multiple #1750's,for upward of one Meg RAM, or one #1750, and other peripherals like QBB, etc.? ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 9 Fri Sep 22, 1989 C128-BILL [SYSOP] at 08:09 EDT I was told 4 megs are possible, but since this is in the final design stages, it could change. These additional RAM units would be supplied by CMD. CMD has agreed to be our guest at an RTC in the near future, so they will be ready to answer questions, then. Or.. pop a note in the CMD area here (Cat 21)! ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 11 Fri Sep 22, 1989 STARCAT [C128-BILL] at 12:08 CDT Howard.... RamLink could be released as soon as November!! ;) ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 12 Fri Sep 22, 1989 FEDDER [Bill J.] at 14:04 EDT Briwall launches Monthly Newsletter for the 8-bit line, AND starts operations in Australia called 'Briwall-Australia. Free Spirit announces 'How to Get The Most Out Of Basic 8', contains 2 disks, and a very nice book! ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 13 Fri Sep 22, 1989 FEDDER [HORO] at 15:46 EDT Well, Bill just came back to the booth, with a big smile on his face: He's also got a handful of disks. Coming this week to the FlagShip Library .... Demo's of Red Storm Rising, Airborne Ranger, Silent Service, Dr. Doom's revenge, and MORE!!! My feet hurt ... More later!! ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 14 Fri Sep 22, 1989 FEDDER [C128-BILL] at 16:01 EDT Oh... A new terminal program for the 64 is out... BellTerm Published by DADS.INC and written by E.G.BELL. Supports xmo, 1K xmo, Ymo, 300/1200/2400 baud. Press release coming soon (29.95). > Howie ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 18 Sat Sep 23, 1989 C128-BILL [SYSOP] at 23:35 EDT Howie... as mentioned in the article, this modification will only work with similar drives (same disk rotation and data transfer rates). Not even the AT drives (1.2 meg) work with the 81 board.:( Just saw an extensive demo of a B-8 program called I-Paint. Using the C-128 (80 col. 64K RAM, mouse driven). Very nice graphics that rivals the now famous Amiga quality. 640X400 (8X8) interlace pictures were excellent quality!! Modes include Clip & Paste, Hold & Recover, Wide, Draw, File, Printer, Zoom, mono, invert... just for starters. 4,096 colors on a 1084S monitor looked stunning. Programmed by Rich Kane, looks to be ready for release around X-Mas time for under $50. This is going to be a hot graphics tool! ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 19 Sun Sep 24, 1989 FEDDER [C128-BILL] at 11:46 EDT Just spoke with Ellen Rule, of RUN Magaizine. She will be authoring the Commodore Clinic for RUN, starting with the January issue. Ellen has also freelanced for RUN several other publications. Her C-64 and 128 experience will be appreciated! Please join us in a hearty welcome to her new position!! ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 20 Sun Sep 24, 1989 STARCAT [C128-BILL] at 12:33 CDT Jim Gracely is now involved in the Marketing end for Free Spirit. He will be involved in Public Relations, Documents, manuals, and other Marketing areas. Congrads, Jim!! Battle Squadron by InnerPrise Software Inc. was demoed. This new game will be released for the C-64/128. ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 21 Mon Sep 25, 1989 C128-BILL [SYSOP] at 15:22 EDT New products at the WOC: Tom Brown's 128 Publish QBB+B Cartridge gives you an extra 64K for your QBB. :) ------------ Category 2, Topic 17 Message 22 Mon Sep 25, 1989 HORO [ SysOp ] at 23:34 EDT Howie, I WORK in NY, and no one ever offered me a pedicure! Other things, yes, but pedicures never. ------------ REPly ? 2 ?set 17 Category 17 Disk Drives & Commodore DOS Information 17 ?rea 4 ************ Topic 4 Wed Sep 27, 1989 H.HERMAN1 at 07:02 EDT Sub: Quick Brown Box-B Brown Boxes' additional 64k expansion Ramdisk. 2 message(s) total. ************ ------------ Category 17, Topic 4 Message 1 Wed Sep 27, 1989 H.HERMAN1 at 07:04 EDT Re: QBB-B Here's the latest on this 64k non-volatile RAM expander, as I understand it. Brown Boxes is selling the QBB for $129, and the QBB-B for $119, plus $3 shipping. (Some distributors have advertised QBB for less.) The two in combination will allow for a 128k Ramdisk, or it can be partitioned, just as the QBB operates. The QBB-B is not a substitute for the QBB, but an addition, giving the extra 64k of RAM. Because there are now two units (plus a third, a REU?), an Aprospand card is required. Brown Boxes is not offering any special deals to present owners of QBB. However, for new buyers, those purchasing the QBB and QBB-B, Brown Boxes offers a $20 discount, or a free Aprospand unit. Using the two boxes requires new QBB Manager software. I was told that the 64 mode Manager is just about complete, and work on the 128 Manager will be completed shortly. [I have no information as to whether or not Herne's QDISK (for CP/M+) will operate on the combination.] I also do not know if they have begun shipping the new units, or may be waiting to complete the 128 Manager software first. Brown Boxes also offers group purchase pricing. However, for this discount they will only ship the group order to one location. For a "scattered" group, it is then necessary to re-package, and re-mail the units to buyers. I will be trying to get a "group" together here, and on two other nets. Allowing for the added costs, a QBB _including_ shipping would probably cost $107, and a QBB-B, $103. [For anyone who can stop by and pick up their units at my place in NYC, so that I don't have to re-package and mail them, the cost would be $97, and $93.] If anyone is interested in joining a group purchase, please send me e-mail, letting me know. Only if enough people respond to make up a group, I'll write back with info as to where to send your check. Howie ------------ Category 17, Topic 4 Message 2 Wed Sep 27, 1989 C128-BILL [SYSOP] at 08:24 EDT Howie, Barb Mintz explained to me yesterday that they are shipping the new QBB- B units. They come without the reset button and switch. Miklos (author of the QBB/CP/M Driver, Q-Disk) has not yet returned from his current trip, but hopefully he will update Q-Disk for the QBB-B in short order. ---------- Topic 4: "Quick Brown Box-B" This topic is being moved to Cat 18...Talk To The Trade. ;) -END-
